The Story Behind The Track Love | Jayvede

It Started With A Simple Phrase

Love is one of those topics we talk about all the time. Songs are written about it. Movies revolve around it. People spend their entire lives looking for it. It's everywhere. The funny thing is that we all seem to recognize it when we see it, even if we define it differently.

The Question I Could not Ignore

Growing up, I heard the phrase "God is love" more times than I can count. At first, it sounded like one of those sayings you hear so often that you stop thinking about it. I knew the words, but I don't think I had really stopped to ask what they meant. Then one day, it suddenly clicked.

God really is Love. Not poetically or symbolically, but in the deepest sense. Love is not just something God does, far from that. It is who He is. That realization surprised me because I expected the answer to be much more complicated. Instead, it was incredibly simple. Sometimes the biggest truths are hiding in plain sight, waiting for us to slow down long enough to notice them.

Of course, that led me to another question. If God is Love, why is there so much suffering? I spent a lot of time thinking about that. Free will, brokenness, the choices we make… all of those things became part of the conversation. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but one thing kept standing out to me: God never stopped being Love.

Seeing Love Differently

So instead of focusing on all the questions I couldn't answer, I decided to look at the places where I could clearly see His Love. My first stop was John 3:16, one of my favorite verses. But the more I read, the more I realized it wasn't just John 3:16. God's Love wasn't limited to a single verse or a single moment in history. It seemed to be woven throughout the entire story of the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, God keeps reaching toward people. Even when they run. Even when they fail. Even when they forget or forsake Him. That kind of Love isn't based on convenience. It's patient. It's faithful. It stays.

Then something else happened. I started noticing Love outside of the pages of Scripture. A parent sacrificing sleep for their child. Someone helping a complete stranger. Friends choosing forgiveness over resentment. People giving without expecting anything back. Moments that seemed ordinary suddenly felt different. They reminded me that if God is Love, then every genuine act of Love reflects something about Him. Not perfectly, of course, but enough to remind us of where Love ultimately comes from. That completely changed the way I looked at the world, and that was only the beginning.

The Birth of a Song

A few nights later, as I was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, the thought of writing a song about God being Love came to me. The title Love felt more aligned with the project I had in mind, so I went with it. And that is where Love came from.

I released the original version back in 2022. At that time, I wanted to create something soft and emotional. It leaned more toward pop and rock, and I wanted the listener to experience that moment when you realize that what you thought Love was… wasn't quite complete. I let the music do most of the talking. The chorus in the second portion of the track became the emotional center of the song, and I loved how simple it felt.

Coming Back to it

Fast forward four years. When I started working on the Re-Imagined project, Love was the very first song that came to mind. I didn't want to remix it. I wanted to rediscover it. The original song planted a seed. The new version explores the fully grown concept of Love.

This time I wanted to paint a bigger picture. Love isn't confined to one relationship or one emotion. It's present in grace, compassion, sacrifice, forgiveness, hope, mercy, joy… we call it by different names every day without always realizing we're describing pieces of the same thing.

The music evolved with that idea. Love (Re-Imagined) blends trap, spoken-word, and jazz influences with a touch of scatting. It starts quietly, almost like a conversation with yourself. As the song unfolds, the energy keeps building until it reaches a joyful trap section celebrating the realization that Love has been there all along. That's probably my favorite part.

What I Hope You Hear

This time, the track is designed so it feels less like discovering something new and more like finally recognizing something that was always right in front of you. That's what I hope people experience when they hear this song. Not necessarily that they'll walk away agreeing with every conclusion I've reached, but that they'll pause long enough to notice love a little differently. Maybe they'll recognize it in someone they care about. Maybe they'll see it in a stranger. Maybe they'll remember a moment they had forgotten. Or maybe they'll be reminded that God deeply loves them.

If this song helps even one person see that a little more clearly, then it has done exactly what I hoped it would. Thank you for being part of this journey. I can't wait for you to hear it.

Love (Re-Imagined) releases on January 11, 2027, and will be available on the Jayvede website and all major streaming platforms.

One Last Thought

Maybe love isn't something we spend our lives trying to find. Maybe it's something we've been surrounded by all along, quietly showing up in the people we meet, the grace we receive, and the God who never stopped loving us. Sometimes all it takes is slowing down long enough to notice.
